Position Title: Children's Director

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Children’s Director at Avalon Church will lead the discipleship process of children (infants to 5th grade) while empowering teams of volunteers to oversee key ministry areas. This role is part of a broader movement to impact South Fort Wayne’s multicultural community with the hope of God, extending Avalon’s mission beyond the church walls.

TIME & COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, salaried position. Benefits include health insurance,

Family Life Pastor

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Pray faithfully for the Avalon Kids Team and the children and families of Avalon Church.
● Collaborate with the Family Life Team to develop and implement a discipleship and outreach strategy for children (infants to 5th grade).
● Lead and oversee all aspects of children’s ministry during 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday services. Collaborate with the Spanish Ministry Children’s Director to ensure consistent ministry offerings for our 12:00 PM bilingual (Spanish/English) service.
● Recruit and disciple the Avalon Kids Team (70+ people).
● Oversee teams of volunteers running outreach-focused events (e.g., VBS, Easter gatherings, Christmas gatherings, etc.).
● Foster opportunities for children and families to engage in ministry, service, and mission within the church and community.
● Demonstrate relational ministry by engaging personally with children and their families through visits, calls, notes, crisis support, and event participation.
● Meet consistently with the Family Life Pastor to maintain clear communication, track progress, and address ministry needs.
● Pursue professional growth in ministry through approved continuing education, study, and research.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
● High school diploma required; college education preferred. Ministry degree or background in Child Development or Elementary Education preferred.
● Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication in person, over the phone, and in writing.
● Ability to handle confidential communications with discretion and tact.
● Demonstrate a genuine love and concern for others, representing Jesus in all interactions.
● Warm, welcoming, enthusiastic demeanor towards members and guests.
● Proficiency in Google applications; knowledge of Planning Center and MailChimp is a plus.
● Strong organizational skills with accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage processes.
● Adaptable and flexible to shifting priorities and responsibilities.
● Theological alignment with the Missionary Church.
