HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF

Church,
When we say that Avalon is a church that connects, engages, and reaches our city and world with the hope and love of God, you are the living testament of this mission. Many of you have been asking how you can help those affected by Hurricane Helene and the devastation it has caused — from severe flooding and storm damage to the heartbreaking loss of life. When the need feels so overwhelming, it’s easy to wonder, "How can we help?"

We’ve been in direct contact with the local Southwest Fire Department who will be taking bottled water down to Marshall, North Carolina where 9 local fire houses were severely damaged. It is estimated that this community will be living off this water for the next year while their local infrastructures are being restored and rebuilt.

You can make a difference today by purchasing water and bringing it back to our Disaster Relief truck at Avalon Church at 1212 Lower Huntington Road from Sunday, October 6 through Wednesday, October 9 at 3 PM.

What more can we do? As a church and a community we are calling you to action in three key ways you will see below:
Pray, Give, and Go.

Sincerely,
Pastor K.Paul

PRAY

Here are specific ways you can pray:
1.Please be praying for everyone affected by this hurricane, as well as those still in harm’s way.
2. Pray for the volunteers, doctors, first responders, and families who are tirelessly working to save lives, provide relief, and restore hope in the midst of this crisis.
3. Pray that the weather holds and stays clear so that relief and rescue efforts can continue.
4. Pray that through this tragedy, people would be led to the Lord, and that Jesus' name would be lifted up and praised.
5. Pray for the churches in the area.
6. Pray that we would know specific ways we can help, and that the funds, volunteers, and supplies will be available.
7. Be praying and asking God if this might be a way you can go and serve.

GIVE

TWO KEY WAYS TO GIVE TODAY:
1. Purchase cases of bottled water and bring it back to the Avalon Church Disaster Relief Truck between Sunday, October 6 at 10 AM and Wednesday, October 9. This water will be delivered next week to Marshall, North Carolina and put to immediate use.

2. Samaritan's Purse is raising money to buy generators for local churches to make them communication hubs for this disaster relief effort. This will serve for not only relief efforts but for communication access points for the community who is without power and phone service. Together with Starlink, Samaritan's Purse will direct people to the local churches in their time of need. What a great way to serve! If you would like to give to this effort, please visit our website and select "Disaster Relief." These funds will go directly to Samaritan's Purse!

GO

Go get water!

Want to do more?
Here are two ways:
